Hydrogen sulfide is the chemical compound with the formula H2S. It is a colorless gas with the characteristic foul odor of rotten eggs; it is heavier than air, very poisonous, corrosive, flammable, and explosive.
Although hydrogen sulfide causes serious health problems at high exposure levels, it has several important commercial uses ranging from metallurgy to manufacturing.
Uses
Hydrogen Sulfide - H2S - is used in metallurgy for the preparation of metallic sulfides. It is also used in the preparation of phosphors, oil additives, and as an analytical reagent in chemical analysis. It is in metals separation, removal of metallic impurities and for reaction with numerous functional organic compounds.
