Introduction:
Nitrogen (N2) constitutes 78% of the atmospheric air which we breathe. Nitrogen is used as a gas for its inertness and a liquid for cooling, freezing and preservation. It is colorless, odorless, non-flammable and non-toxic. Nitrogen is often used as an "inert" gas due to its non reactive nature with many materials. However, Nitrogen can form certain compounds under the influence of chemicals, catalysts, or high temperature.
Commercial Nitrogen is produced by a variety of air separation processes, including cryogenic liquefaction and distillation, pressure swing adsorption (PSA), and membrane separation. Nitrogen is supplied both as liquid and as compressed gas.
Common applications include:
◆ Inerting.
◆ Food freezing.
◆ Cryo-conservation.
◆ Metals heat treatment.
◆ Pneumatic transport.
◆ Oil and gas industry.
◆ Oil field and pipeline services.
◆ Food preservation.
◆ Hospital application.
Supply options:
◆ Cylinders/dewars.
◆ Bulk deliveries/storage system.
◆ Pipeline supply.
